BabyExpo UK Charity Support
BabyExpo UK supports various charities and these have included CLIC Sargent, BLISS, NCT, The Children's Trust and Chestnut Tree House Children's Hospice. We offer charities a presence at the show, the chance to let the 1,000s of visiting parents learn all about them, mentions within our newsletters and significant exposure online.
The National Childbirth Trust
The UK's largest charity for parents. Every year they support thousands of mums and dads from all backgrounds, providing information, counselling and advice. With national classes, local events and specialist workers and counsellors on hand, thousands of parents are helped on their parenting journey every year with NCT. BabyExpo and NCT have worked together since 2007.
BIBS is a volunteer run charity supporting Buscot Ward, the neonatal and special care baby unit at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading. Specialist units such as Buscot Ward rely heavily on charities to maintain the highest level of care to their patients, who in this case are the smallest and most vulnerable imaginable.
BIBS' track record of success is impressive, in the past two years they have purchased in excess of £70,000 worth of life saving equipment and completely transformed parent facilities on the unit. They are currently fundraising for a state of the art Giraffe Ominbed incubator at a cost of £29,000 via their Saving Tiny Lives appeal.
Chestnut Tree House
Chestnut Tree House celebrated its 10th birthday in 2013! The children's hospice was officially opened in November 2003, and over the past 10 years, has helped hundreds of life-limited children and their families all over Sussex.
'We are currently caring for over 280 life-limited children and young people across Sussex and South East Hampshire. Families are never charged for the care they receive. It costs over £2.5 million each year to provide all our care services yet we receive only 8% of our funding from central government so rely almost entirely on the support of our local community.'
Suzanne Borrell adds 'I visited Chestnut Tree and was overwhelmed by all that they do. The hospice has an enormous energy and positivity around it and there's no doubt their work is so very vital. With such minimal funding we are more than happy to support such a cause - lovely team too!'
Humphrey's Corner, The Children's Trust and PJ Week!
Sally Hunter launched 'Humphrey's Corner' - inspired by her own 3 children nearly 14 years ago!
With The Children's Trust they developed the fantastic PJ Week initiative - supporting all the amazing work the trust do to care for children with multiple disabilities, complex health needs and acquired brain injury and their families. PJ Week is held in October and is a fantastic fun way to support this very worthwhile cause.
